Mrs. Lizzie Adams Gambill, age 98 passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Mrs. Gambill was born November 22, 1914 in Surry County to Joseph S. and Bertie Faye McCann Adams. Mrs. Gambill was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church for eighty years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad L. Gambill; four brothers, Gratis Adams, Frank Adams, Edward Adams and Tommy Adams and two sisters, Pauline Sprinkle and Willie Eldridge. Survivors include: her daughters, Jane Wishon and husband Edwin of N. Wilkesboro and Bonnie Melton and husband Doug of Elkin; brother, Herbert Adams of State Road; sisters, Louise Pinnix of Jonesville, Polly Freeman and husband Buck of State Road and Jean Nixon and husband Roger of Boonville and her grandson, John Wishon and wife Jackie of Hays. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Whitley and Rev. John Wishon officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
