Mr. Eugene Steven Combs, age 65 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 7, 1948 in Thomasville, NC to Porter Combs and Hazel Brown Combs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Combs. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Combs of the home; daughter, Tammy Combs Gaylean and husband Buck; step children, Jo Ann Crouse , Michael Waddell, and Kenneth Waddell; sister, Grace Brown;four brothers and numerous beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will have a gathering of friends Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Mountain Park Rescue Squad, 1137 Zephyr-Mountain Park Road, State Road, NC 28676
