Donnie William Parks

December 20, 1968 — February 17, 2013

Mr. Donnie William Parks, age 44 passed away, February 17, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Parks was born December 20, 1968 in Surry County to Johnny Allen and Betty Ledford Parks. Mr. Parks was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church. Donnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Donnie had great faith and love for God. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter William and Ruby Cook Parks; maternal grandparents, Josh Luther and Minnie Marie Ledford; aunt, Shelby Jean Parks Carter; cousin, Eloise Carter and nephew, Travis Parks. Survivors include: his wife, Yolanda Norman Parks of the home; son, William Alexander "Zan" Parks and wife Emily Stone of Jonesville; daughters, Kayla Leann Parks and Amber Dawn Parks of the home; brother, Ronnie Parks of Elkin; sister, Teresa Aston and husband Rob of California; uncle, Donald Parks and wife Linda of Elkin; grandchild, William Cayden Parks and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. David Key and Rev. Russ Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. prior to service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church, 1467 Cool Springs Church Road, Elkin, NC.
