Mr. Joseph Clarence Upright, age 47, passed away, Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Mr. Upright was born August 24, 1965 in Wilkes County to Carl Alexander and Della Frances Swaim Upright, Sr. Mr. Upright was a member of Shoaly Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Alexander Upright, Sr. Survivors include: his mother, Frances Swaim Upright of Elkin; brother Billy Upright and wife Anita of Elkin; sisters, Deborah Myers and husband Allen of Elkin and Karen Spicer and husband James of Elkin; niece, Kendra Upright; nephews, James Myers and John Myers; four great nephews, two great nieces and a special friend, Alice Bowman. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Blankley and Rev. Kenny Wood officiating. Mr. Upright will lie- in-state 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shoaly Branch Baptist Church, 472 Shoaley Branch Church Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
