Mr. John Brady Cox, age 71 of Elkin, passed away, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Cox was born April 2, 1941 in Wilkes County to Earl L. and Nellie Terry Cox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Faye Poteat and brother, Thomas Eugene Cox. Survivors include: his wife, Pearl Hayden Cox of the home; son, Barry Cox and wife Dee of Elkin; daughters, Patty Smith and husband David of Elkin and Chrissy Harris and husband Jonathan of Elkin; brother Ray Cox and wife Jean of Thurmond; sister Helen "Duck" Cox of the home; grandchildren, John Cox and wife Chelsea, Amanda Cox, Matthew Cox, Stephen Smith, Aaron Smith, Katelyn Harris and Chase Harris and great grandchild, Abel Cox. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Roby G. Hayden and Rev. William Shew officiating. Burial will follow in Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center ICU 5B for their care.
