Marie Cockerham Transou

Mrs. Marie Cockerham Transou, age 93 of State Road, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Heritage Healthcare of Elkin. Mrs. Transou was born August 15, 1919 in Forsyth County to M.S. Mickle and Bertha Shore Mickle. She was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Cockerham; second husband, Roy Transou; and sister, Stella Tucker. Survivors include: daughter, Pat Holder and her husband Jay of Elkin; two grandchildren, Gina Morrison and her husband John of Greensboro and Ricia King and her husband Dan of Spotsylvania, VA; five great grandchildren, Erin Morrison, Nathan Morrison, Daniel Morrison, Chase Pardue, and Olivia King; sister, Betty Caudle of Jonesville; step son; Kris Transou and his wife Brenda of Elkin, special cousin, Julie Carter and special friend, Carolyn Shore. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. John Attaway officiating. A private burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Groner and the staff of Heritage Healthcare of Elkin for their care.
