Mr. Charles Clayton Alexander, 81, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Alexander was born April 20, 1931 in Elwood, Indiana to Sanford S. "Coon" and Sarah Jane Sparks Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and retired from Tyson. He was a veteran of the United States Marines serving during the Korean Conflict. Clayton was also a charter member of Roaring River Ruritan Club. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: His wife, Pauline Baldwin Alexander of the home, a son, Charlie Clayton Alexander of Roaring River, two daughters, Laura Alexander Collins and husband Tate of Ronda, Lisa Alexander Darnell and husband Dennis of State Road, Three brothers, Don Alexander and wife Vicki of Jonesville, Larry Alexander of Hays, William "Richie" Alexander of Roaring River, three sisters, Helen Goforth and husband J.D. of Statesville, Doris Mastin of Roaring River, Patsy Hayes and husband Robert "Chic" of N. Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at White Plains Baptist Church conducted by Rev. William Souther, Rev. John Attaway and Dr. Monroe Huffman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery will military honors provided by Wilkes County Post 1142 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8pm at Elkin Funeral Service. The family has been very blessed by the outpouring of love and support by their family and friends during Clayton's illness. They would like to especially thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Bill Johnson Hospice Chaplin, Roaring River Ruritan Club, Roaring River Fire Department, their church family at White Plains Baptist Church.
