Rev. Roscoe Armfield Hager, age 92 of Yadkinville, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Willowbrook Healthcare Center. Rev. Hager was born August 1, 1920 in Wilkes County to John H. Hager and Dinah Adams Hager. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving in Pearl Harbor. Rev. Hager became an ordained minister May 4, 1955. After being honorably discharged from the US Army he returned to North Carolina to work the family farm. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Hager and Grady Hager and a sister, Gertie Mae Hager. Survivors include: brother, J.W. Hager of East Bend; sisters, Edith H. Howard of Roaring River and Betty Ireland of Greensboro; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tim Tucker and Rev. Brian Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Rachel Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
