Mrs. Blanche Cox Brown, age 88 of Elkin, passed away, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. She was born March 17, 1924 in Bluefield County, WV to Guy and Annie Bateman Cox. Mrs. Brown was a member of Austin Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and mother-in-law. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Roy Brown; brothers, Warren Cox, R.A. Cox and Cabel Cox; son, Billy Brown, Sr.; granddaughter, Melissa Bullins and great grandson, Cade Bullins. Survivors include: her sons, Roy "Toby" Brown, Jr. of Traphill, James Guy Brown and wife Patsy of Thurmond; daughter, Annette Sullivan and husband Tony of Elkin; daughter-in-law, Agnes Brown of Thurmond; brother, Tim Cox and wife Debbie of Winston-Salem; sisters, Laverne Cox of Winston-Salem, Joyce Billings and husband Ira of Thurmond and Sylvia Key and husband Danny of Elkin; grandchildren, Billy Brown, Jr. and wife Amy, Luke Triplett and wife Dana, Travis Brown and wife Cindy, Amanda Brown and Derek Brown and wife Kasi; great grandchildren, Eli, Nathan and Christian Brown, Brandon Cox, Vess Bullins, Adler Triplett, Hannah and Gracie Brown, Olivia Passmore and Mattie. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Austin Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Brown, Rev. Ivan Dameron and Mr. Phil Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Austin Baptist Church.
