Mr. Thomas Hampton Sprinkle, Jr., age 77 of Elkin, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012. He was born September 20, 1934 in Surry County to Thomas Hampton Sprinkle, Sr. and Retta Chapman Sprinkle. Mr. Sprinkle was retired from Centel Telephone Company and was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church where he served on several committees. He was also active with Meals on Wheels. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Claudette Nixon Sprinkle of the home; sons, Joel Thomas Sprinkle and his wife Elizabeth Marie of Rocky Mount, Jay Nixon Sprinkle and his wife Michelle of Clingman, and Jonathan Morris Sprinkle and his wife Kristi of Elkin; sister, Frances Sprinkle Harris of Elkin; grandchildren, Nathan Sprinkle of King, Retta Elizabeth Sprinkle of Elkin, Braden Sprinkle of Elkin, and Whitney Sprinkle of Elkin; step grandchildren, Colt Holcomb, Hailey Holcomb, Nicholas Pace and his wife Rhonda and Zachary Pace and his wife Jessica; niece, Jane Harris Jester of Lewisville and nephew David Harris and his wife Cynthia of Virginia Beach. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Zach White officiating. Mr. Sprinkle will lie-in-state from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church, 118 N. Elkin Drive, Elkin, NC 28621 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Elkin Valley Baptist Church family for their care.
