Mr. Carl Edward Nelson, age 62, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, September 04, 2012. Mr. Nelson was born February 26, 1950 in Wilkes County to Johnsie Freeman and Imogene Wilmoth Nelson. Mr. Nelson was a member of Peoples Baptist Tabernacle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister-in-law Janet Osborne Durham, brother-in-law, Claude Ralph Durham and nephew, Brian Scott Durham. Survivors include: wife, Frances Osborne Nelson; son, Bradley Neil Sparks and wife Mandy; daughters, Patricia Ann Gunter and husband David, Carla Jean Higgins, Janice Marie Foster and husband Keith, Alicia Ann Jenkins and husband Rodney; brothers, James Nelson and wife Betty, Larry Nelson and wife Darlene, Allen Nelson and wife Nita and Tony Nelson and wife Star; sisters, Brenda Golden and husband Thomas, Linda Mahan and husband Frank, Judy Caudill and husband Johnny, Carol Matthews and husband Ronnie and Joyce Luffman and husband Joey; brother-in-law, Charles Osborne and wife Janice; sister-in-law, Jean Cumbie and husband Clyde; grandchildren, Casey Leigh Nelson and husband Matt, Joshua Engle, Candice Gregory, Tony Gregory, Samantha Wagoner and husband Terry, Brian Foster, Elizabeth Foster, Tyler Sparks, Riley Jenkins and Sidney Jenkins; great grandchild, Terry Alan Wagoner; nieces and nephews and a very special mother-in-law, Hallie Osborne. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 7, 2012 at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jonathon White and Rev. Keith Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Peoples Baptist Tabernacle. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Eastern Division, Inc., Attn: Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
