Cyril Frederick Barton

July 28, 1916 — August 27, 2012

Mr. Cyril Frederick Barton, age 96, passed away, Monday, August 27, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Barton was born July 28, 1916 in the Tividale Tipton, Staffordshire, England to Matilda Jarvis Barton and William Barton. Mr. Barton was a Captain in the British Army serving during WWII. He moved to the U.S. in 1955 and became a U.S. citizen in 1959. Mr. Barton was a member of The Church of England and the Episcopal Church In addition to his parents she was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mathieu Barton. Survivors include: step-granddaughters, Diane Strick of Felton, Delaware, Jostelle Pages of Paris, France, and Nancy Rico of Colorado; and step-grandson, Richard C. Mathieu of New York. A service will be conducted at a later date in Pipersville, Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
