Lois Byrd Lyon

December 28, 1925 — August 15, 2012

Mrs. Lois Byrd Lyon, age 86 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born December 28, 1925 in Wilkes County to Sallie Fields Byrd and Hillary F. Byrd. Mrs. Lyon was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Byrd; brothers, Dewey Byrd, Ernest Byrd, Otis Byrd, Robert Byrd, Marvin Byrd, Jovan Byrd, and Walter Byrd. Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, Rev. W. Amos Lyon; daughter, Nancy Boling; son, Kenneth Lyon, brother, Everette Byrd; sister, Joyce Cothren; grandchildren, Mike Lyon and Tim Linker; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Knobbs Baptist Church cemetery fund. The family would like to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital ICU and the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for their care.
