Mr. William Arthur Barker, 73, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Barker was born September 23, 1938 in Alleghany County to Marshall and Mary Belle Brown Barker. Mr. Barker retired from Wayne's Farms and attended Rocky Ford Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Malaki Swaim and three brothers, J.D. Barker, Rufus Barker and Dean Barker. Survivors include; his wife, Brenda Barker of the home, a daughter, Belinda Sigmon and husband Jerome of Elkin, a granddaughter, Desiree Swaim, a great grandson, Trendon Swaim, a brother, Wade Barker of Traphill. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 2:00pm at Rocky Ford Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Claude Lloyd and Rev. Mickey Brooks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8pm at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors on 2nd Floor ICU at Forsyth Medical Center for the love and care given to Arthur during his illness.
