Mrs. Virginia Mary Lee Martin, age 74 of State Road, passed away, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1938 in Carroll County, VA to Sadie Rosella Shouse Beck and Esker Franklin Beck. Mrs. Martin attended Redeeming Grace Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Martin; and brothers, Roger Beck, Thomas Beck, and Ted Beck. Survivors include her son, Danny Martin and his girlfriend Barbara Butcher of State Road; daughters, Marie Johnston of State Road; brothers, Frank Beck of Mt. Airy and Fred Beck of Mt. Airy; sister, Rose Myers of Lexington; niece, April Campbell of Greenville; great nephew, Corey Campbell, and granddaughter, Kellie Collins. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Elliott Smith and Dr. Dan Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231. The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center, Salem Surgical, and Blue Ridge Cardiology for their care.
