Mr. William McKinley Nance, age 87 of State Road, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1924 in Surry County to Sara Jane Hayes Nance and J.V. Nance. Mr. Nance was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday school class. He was an avid Bee keeper and gardener, and a frequent vendor at the Farmer's Market. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Nance, Vernel Nance, Marvin Nance, Frank Nance, and Raymond Nance; sisters, Stella Hardy and Hattie Marion; and step son, Benny A. Snow. Survivors include: his wife, Joyce C. Nance of the home; son, Danny McKinley Nance and his wife Wendy of Mt. Airy; step sons, Teddy Snow and his wife Janet of Elkin and Jeffrey Gray Snow and his fiancée Leslie Seals of State Road; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 193 Fellowship Way, State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to thank Dr. Stefanesku, nursing staff Shelby Fowler, Vicky Angell and Adam Cave, and the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for their care.
