Mrs. Ruth Ann W. Brown, age 69 of State Road, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 18, 1942 in Surry County to Ruth Jackson Wampler and Charles William Wampler. Mrs. Brown was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wampler. Survivors include: her husband, Les Brown of the home; daughters, Leslie Oxendine and her husband Dean of State Road, Annette B. Winebarger and her husband Scott of State Road, and Cindy B. Hodges and her husband Mitchell of Jonesville; sister, Linda Williams of State Road; grandchildren, Annika Winebarger, Mason Hodges, and Grant Hodges. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to The ARK, PO box 102, Elkin, NC 28621 or Poplar Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 193 Fellowship Way, State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to thank Dr. Robinson and the Staff of Forsyth Medical Center, Barbara Goldsmith- nurse practitioner, and Elkin Rehab for their care.
