Mrs. Gladys Cheek Prevette, age 80 of Roaring River, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012. She was born February 9, 1932 in Wilkes County to Lessie Bauguess Cheek and Barney Cheek. Mrs. Prevette was retired from Wilkes County school system and was a member of New Light Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: daughter, Cindy Prevette of the home; granddaughter, Bethany Hendren of the home, and dear family friend, Cindy Call of N. Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at New Light Baptist Church with Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wilkes Regional Medical Center, 1907 West Park Drive, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659 The family would like to thank Ray Stone, P.A. and the staff of Mountain View Medical Center, the staff of Hospice of Wilkes Regional Medical Center, and the many family, friends, and neighbors for their care.
