Mr. Johnnie Steven Smith, age 65 of Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born October 31, 1946 in Surry County to John Myrl Smith and Helen Lyon Smith. Mr. Smith was a stone mason and a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Vicky McDowell Smith of the home; sons, Mark Smith of Coolemee, John Trenton Smith of Wilmington; step son, Mike Holt and his wife Pat of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law, Teresa Bruner of Winston-Salem; sister, Jan Smith and her partner Gail Miller of Rural Hall; grandchildren, Krystal Smith, Steve Smith, Brianna Smith and Landon Smith; step grandchildren, Chris Holt and Stacy Holt; step great grandchild, Bradick Holt. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Steve Hayes and Mr. Darold Adams officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to Your Father's House c/o Darold Adams, 121 Grassy Creek Drive, State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to thank Hope Valley, Tri County Alcoholics Anonymous, and the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
