Wanda Carter White

February 24, 1935 — May 25, 2012

Mrs. Wanda Carter White, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, age 77 of Thurmond, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1935 in Surry County to Reece Carter and Daisy Ethel Brooks Carter. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Shoaley Branch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, G.C. White; sister Lillie Midkiff and Violet Wiercioch; and brother, Ward Carter. Survivors include: daughters, Janet Secreast of Roaring River, Rita Pifer of O'Fallon, MO., Susan Stanley of Elkin, and Angela Call of N. Wilkesboro; sisters, Maxine Blom, Hazel Gabrielian, Zessa Herman, and Earline Brown; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaley Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Britthaven/Westwood Hills Nursing Center, Dr. Pradip Thakkar and Dr. Tony Canupp for their care.
