CHESAPEAKE, VA Ira S. Mallory, 85, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Thurmond, NC, he was the son of the late Walter and Meadie Mallory and was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest G. Mallory and Robert Colidge Mallory. Ira had a long career in construction, working for City Roofing and Construction and later retiring from the City of Chesapeake as a building inspector. A born again child of Christ, he was a long-time member of Great Hope Baptist Church. Ira loved people and gave freely of his time and talents in the community, serving others. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty H. Mallory; two daughters, Pamela L. Morefield and husband John, Kimberly I. Moseley and husband Marty; a grandson, Jonathan Morefield and wife Stephanie. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Thurmond, NC. Rev. E.R. Wiles will officiate.
