Mr. James Michael Draughn, age 55 of Ronda, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012. He was born March 14, 1957 in Surry County to Jesse C. Draughn and Barbara "Annie" Pike Draughn. Mr. Draughn was a program coordinator with Project Challenge and was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church. He was also an active volunteer with Offering Hope Ministry. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include: his wife, Becky L. Draughn of the home; mother, Annie P. Draughn of Siloam; daughter, Kari Brandt and her husband Henry of Ararat; step son, Glenn Church of N. Wilkesboro; brothers, Jay Draughn and his wife Beulah of Siloam and Wayne Draughn and his wife Geraldine of Dobson; grandchildren, T.J. Brandt, Mattie Brandt, and Jessie Brandt. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Moore, Bro. Stan Hostetter, Bro. Ray Long, and Bro. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Project Challenge, 7548 B Hwy 19 East, Spruce Pine, NC 28777; Cherry Grove Baptist Church Bus Ministry, 859 Cherry Grove Road, Moravian Falls, NC 28654; or Hospice of Wilkes Regional Medical Center, 1908 West Park Drive, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659. The family would like to thank Hospice of Wilkes Regional Medical Center, the staff of Project Challenge, the church family of Cherry Grove Baptist Church, and the many other friends and family for their care.
