Mr. Harvey Franklin Hayes, Sr., age 85 of Elkin, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Aiken, SC. He was born November 23, 1926 in Wilkes County to Thomas Jesse Hayes and Docia Scott Hayes. Mr. Hayes was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Layell Hayes; five brothers and one sister. Survivors include: his son, Harvey F. Hayes, Jr. of Mount Airy; daughter, Janice Hayes Moore of North Augusta, SC; brother, Denver Hayes and his wife Martha of Elkin; sister, Bonnie Wood and her husband Henry of Elkin; grandchildren, Michelle Adams and her husband of Gary of Elberton, GA., K. Brian Moore and his wife Sarah of North Augusta, SC., and Heather Hayes Salley and her husband Thomas of Boonville; great grandchildren, Cameron Irene Adams and Callie Mae Hayes. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kenny Gunn officiating. Burial will follow in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehab Center for their care.
