Daniel Edward Hudson

Mr. Daniel Edward Hudson, age 94 of Elkin, passed away, Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born February 9, 1918 in Gaston County, NC to William and Luara Hudson. Mr. Hudson was an Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a past member and president of the Elkin Lions Club and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Mr. Hudson was the owner and operator of Hudson Bootery. In addition to his his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Short Hudson. Survivors include: his daughter Barbara H. Harrell and her husband Dr. Jim Harrell, Jr. of Elkin; grandchildren, Jim Harrell III and his wife Amanda Harrell of Raleigh, Matt Harrell of Raleigh, and Chris Harrell and his wife Sallie Harrell of Denver, Co.; great grandchildren, Harper Isabel Harrell, Jim Harrell IV, Hudson Willert Harrell, and Christopher Hudson Harrell, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Hollywood Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Jonesville with Rev. Dale Cline officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 451 Winston Road, Jonesville, NC 28642 or Elkin-Jonesville Feed the Elderly, c/o Jane Motsinger, Treasurer, PO Box 125, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank Emily Bradford, Arthur Huffman and the Staff of Bayada for their care.
