Barbara Jane Schmidt

May 27, 1938 — April 5, 2012

Mrs. Barbara Jane Schmidt, age 73 of Elkin, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1938 in New Jersey to Arthur Van Loon and Harriet Frank Van Loon. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Gregor Lee Schmidt. Survivors include: her husband, Gregor Henry Schmidt of the home, sons, Douglas John Schmidt and his wife Dawn of Prattville, Al, Hans Dorflinger and his wife Annette of Westwood, NJ, and Craig Dorflinger of Michigan; daughter, Laura Christine Williams and her husband Robert of Pittsburgh, PA, and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Elkin at a later date. The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, Post Office Box 618, Elkin, NC 28621 The family would like to thank the Faye Comer group of First Baptist Church of Elkin and the staff of Golden Living Center in Mount Airy for their care.
