Mrs. Hallie Stoker Tilley passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Tilley was born in Thurmond, NC, on January 15, 1911 to Thomas and Mary Lloyd Stoker. She celebrated her 101st birthday on Saturday, January 15, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. She was a member of White Rock Church. She loved the outdoors and was happiest planting flowers and working in her yard. Mrs. Tilley was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Grover L. Tilley; and two sons, Howard Junior Tilley and James Buddy Tilley. She is survived by her children; Bonnie (Bud) Jones of Summerfield NC, Nancy Moody of Browns Summit NC, David Tilley of Elkin NC, Larry (Libby) Tilley of Elkin NC, Ricky (Debbie) Tilley of State Road NC, 16 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2:00pm Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Terry Moody officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. A private interment will be held following the service. Memorials are requested to be made to East Elkin Baptist Church, Elkin, NC, Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, Elkin, NC, or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Erlandson and his staff, the staff and volunteers of the 100 hall of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, and Mountain Valley Hospice.
