Mrs. Opal Shirley Church Anthony, age 92, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born March 1, 1920 in Keystone, WV to Lewis S. Church and Faye Parker Church. Mrs. Anthony was a member of Middle River Baptist Church and was a volunteer with Middle River Food Bank in Baltimore, MD. She was retired from Johns Hopkins Hospital as the head cashier of the private patient clinic. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert M. Anthony and a sister, Nita Darnell. Survivors include: sons, Gilbert Milton Anthony, Jr. of Norcross, GA. and Michael Lewis Anthony of Charlotte; brother, Donald Lewis Church of Ronda; sisters, Doris Faye Anthony of Roaring River and Sybil Church Gentry of Ronda. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
