Mrs. Mary Jane Gentry, age 74, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at Heritage Healthcare of Elkin. She was born February 23, 1938 in Yadkin County to Herman and Elsie Wagoner Shore. Mrs. Gentry was a homemaker and a member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Gentry; son, Gary Lee Gentry; brothers, Ken Shore, Benny Shore, and George Shore; sisters, Judy Moore, Betty Jo Patton, Martha Ruth Gentry, and Irene Cranfill. Survivors include: sons, Robbie Gentry of Austin, Barry Gentry and his wife Cindy of State Road, Joey Gentry and his wife April of Elkin; daughters, Tammy Anderson and her husband Junior of Traphill, Sandra Galehouse and her husband Bobby of Elkin; daughter-in-law, Kim Gentry of Thurmond; brother, Bill Shore of Dobson; sister, Margaret Williams and her husband Kermit of Yadkinville; grandchildren, Tony Gentry, Roger Lee Gentry and his wife Shanda, Nicholas Gentry and his wife Kasey, Sarah Gentry and her boyfriend Joseph Brewer, Chanda Prevette, Rhonda Martin and her husband Bryan Cochran, Tiffany Perkins, Destiny Perkins, and Charli Porter and her husband Chris; and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to The National Down Syndrome Society, The American Cancer Society, United Hospice of Wilkes, or Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Healthcare of Elkin, United Hospice of Wilkes, Dr. Howard Nabors, and the sisters-in-law and their spouses for their care.
