Irene Nixon Talley, age 71, a loving wife, mother and nanna passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Talley was born September 20, 1940 in Surry County to Willie Reid and Theresa Brooks Nixon. Mrs. Talley was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from Wilkes County School system as cafeteria manager of C. B. Eller Elementary School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother. Survivors include; her husband, Charles L. Talley of the home, a son, Steve Talley and wife Beverly of State Road, two daughters, Debbie Hemric and husband Don of State Road, Patricia Gail Salley of Yadkinville, a brother Edwin Nixon and wife Margaret of Ronda, a sister, Gladys Perry of Mountain Park, her grandchildren, Gracie Talley, Logan Salley, Olivia Salley, Kaylin Talley. Brother-in-law, Clifford Talley and wife Jeri, Sisters-in-law, Beatrice Ruhl and husband John, Sarah Davis and husband Charles, Berta Lee Durci and husband Bernard, Eva Marshall and husband John, Martha Reece, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday January 29, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel conducted by Rev. Ken Wood and Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Talley's caregivers Brandy Bowers, Leeann Bell and Mary Ann Anderson and Hospice of Davie County. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Baptist Men's Group of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church 109 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, State Road, NC 28676.
