Mr. Grady Harris, age 86 of Elkin, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012. Mr. Harris was born November 4, 1925 in Wilkes County to Marcus Harris and Mazie Wilmoth Harris. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. Mr. Harris was an avid antique dealer and enjoyed restoring old cars. He was also a western enthusiast. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Kathleen Harris; son, Tony Lee Harris; and sister, Virginia Billings. Survivors include: sons, Jerry Harris and his wife Annette of N. Wilkesboro, Ricky Harris and his wife Deborah of Statesville, and Randy Harris and his fiancée Pam Pennell of Traphill; daughters, Cathy Canaday of Elkin and Sandra Shaffner and her husband Marty of Elkin; niece, Reatha Shook and her husband Cecil of Hays; nephews, Stoney Billings and his wife Peggy of Taylorsville and Tex Billings and his wife Jan of Modesto, CA; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Osborne and Rev. Don King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wilkes County.
