Marie Turner Snider

August 2, 1925 — January 15, 2012

Mrs. Marie Turner Snider, 86, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Snider was born in Wilkes County August 2, 1925 to Dewey Edgar and Ruby Forester Turner. Mrs. Snider was the owner of Turner's Sunoco in State Road and she was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Marie was also a member of State Road VFD Ladies Auxiliary, Cub Scouts of America Pack 644, Pleasant Ridge Home Demonstration Club, Poplar Springs Home Demonstration Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clate Snider. Survivors include; a son, Tim Snider and wife Connie of State Road, a granddaughter, Ashley Snider of Wilmington, a grandson, Chase Snider his wife Baxter of Colorado Springs, CO, two great grandsons, Colton and Porter Snider, a sister, Mozelle Shumaker and husband Clyde of Mooresville, a brother, Tommy Turner and wife Adelene Turner of Wilkesboro, a brother in law, Paul Snider, sisters in law, Jean Kilby and husband Edwin, Hazel Anderson and husband Roby, Geraldine McCall all of N. Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Union United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Fran Adams and Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Snider will lie in state from 1 until 2 pm prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Marie during her illness. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 688 N. Bridge Street Elkin, NC 28621.
