Grace Cockerham Burcham, age 90 of Elkin, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Burcham was born November 27, 1921 in Wilkes County to Carl and Tessie Durham Cockerham. Mrs. Burcham retired from Avon as a district manager and was a member of Benham Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren McKinley Burcham; son, Mack Carl Burcham; brothers, Ralph Cockerham and Junior Cockerham; and three sisters, Ruby Byrd, Nell Stickel, and Ivadean Wall. Survivors include; son, Ronald W. Burcham and wife Paulette of Elkin; daughters, Wanda B. Gray and husband Russell of Hamptonville and Carolyn B. Settle and husband Randall of Elkin; sisters, Virginia Luffman of Elkin, Ruth Yarboro of Roaring River, Gerri Hume of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Patricia McKaig and husband Mark, Susan Gray, Lisa Wall and husband Trent, Virgil Settle and wife Mitzi, Daniel Settle and wife Bethany, Chad Burcham; and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jeff Reeves and Rev. Trent Wall officiating. Burial will follow in Benham Baptist Chruch cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Benham Baptist Church.
