Mr. Sidney Floyd Brendle, age 81, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Brendle was born June 16, 1930 in Surry County to James David and Edna Arnold Brendle. Mr. Brendle retired from Brendle's Inc. as executive vice president and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. He was a member of Elkin Masonic Lodge 454,a Scottish Rite Mason,and a member of the Elkin-Jonesville Shrine Club. Mr. Brendle served on the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time on his farm. Mr. Brendle had a love for nature, animals and being outside. He was especially fond of his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Harold Brendle and Douglas David Brendle, and a sister-in-law, Pat Brendle Redway. Survivors include, his wife, Kitty C. Brendle of the home; two sons, William Sidney Brendle and wife Gina of Elkin and Steven Floyd Brendle and wife Betsy of State Road; four grandchildren, James Steven Brendle and Jason Nicholas Brendle both of Wilmington, Sydney Kathryn Brendle and William Alexander Brendle both of Elkin. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:00 am at Hollywood Cemetery with full Masonic Rites by Elkin Masonic Lodge 454. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Rebecca Maynard officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the home caregivers, Pat Hurt, Lynda Carter, Kenneth Stockton, Isabelle Shores, Kathy Hodges and Susan Marsh for the love and care shown to Floyd during his illness.
