Walton Clarence Green

Mr. Walton Clarence Green passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Winifred Shankle Green; a sister, Ann Green Miller; and a daughter, Luann Green. Surviving are his wife Jeanne Reindollar Green of the home; a son, Mickey Walton Green of Rehoboth Beach, DE.; brother-in-law, Clarence Miller of Chattanooga, TN.; nephews, Alan Miller and his wife Pamela of Clevland, TN. and Mike Miller of Atlanta, GA.; two great nephews, Pete Miller and Brett Miller; and the Locklear family. Mr. Green enjoyed a 35-year career with Eastern Airlines in various cities mainly in the capacity of Manager/Director of Passenger Services. He served his country by participating with the Military Aircraft Command sponsored by Eastern Airlines. Upon retirement with Eastern Airlines, he was a consultant with various airlines for a 10-year time span as well as a successful 2nd career with NASCAR. Upon moving to Sparta with his wife Jeanne, Mr. Green was an avid supporter of community affairs mainly with Allehgany Christians's Associated for Relief & Emergency Services, Alleghany Motor Racing Association and instrumental in the building the Solid Rock Food Closet of Alleghany County. It was his pleasure to participate in many activities connected with Sparta United Methodist Church leading mission trips, volunteering in the Wood Ministry of the church and serving as a Stephen Minister. Mr. Green received the honor of Alleghany County Volunteer of the Year and received the Governor's award for Volunteer Service. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Sparta United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Miller of Sparta United Methodist Church and Rev. Richard L. Walton of Christ Episcopal Church of Sparta officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Epsicopal Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at Sparta United Methodist Church. The family requests that memorials be made to High Country Hospice of Alleghany County, PO Box 1287, Sparta, NC 28675 or Sparta United Methodist Church, PO Box 697, Sparta NC 28675. The family would like to thank High Country Hospice of Alleghany County, Dr. John Kovacich and staff, The Woodruff Sunday School Class, Bobby Anderson, Larry Prince, and Rev. Bob Miller.
