Mrs. Lois Genevieve Teague Parks went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 10, 2010. Mrs. Parks was born May 21, 1943 in Surry County to James Howard "Chunk" and Madalyne Cusick Teague. She was a member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church in Elkin and is a retiree of Chatham Manufacturing Company. She loved her church family and was blessed by being with them while able to attend. She especially appreciated her Pastor, Steve Mahaffey, whose constant visits and comfort were a special blessing to her during her sickness. Mrs. Parks was also a certified hairdresser, running a salon from her home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, Amy Eugene Parks Jr; brothers, Don Teague, Dan Teague, Charles Roy "Popeye" Teague; sister, Zelma "Sissy" Teague Simmons. She is survived by a son, Rev. James Howard Pardue and wife Karen of Jonesville; a daughter, Regina Maria Pardue of Lake Mary, FL.; a step-daughter, Beverly Butts and husband Randy of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Taylor Pardue, Andrew Pardue, Zachery Butts, Abbygail Butts; a brother, Burtle Lewis "Turk" Teague and wife Nancy of Elkin; and four sisters, JoAnn Waddell and husband Bill of Morganton, Irma Slice and husband Robert of West Columbia, SC, Nelda Spicer and husband Earl of Mountain Park, and Lois Steelman and husband Joey of Clemmons. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00am at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Mahaffey and Rev. Benny Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tony Canupp, Cathy Johnson, Hospice RN, Susan McCormick, Hospice CNA, the Added Touch CNA's, and the help of the extended family for thier professional and personal care during Mrs. Park's illness. Without each of them, her desire for remaining in the comfort of her home would not have been possible.
