Winifred Cook Bass

Elkin, Mrs. Winifred Orlea Cook Bass, age 79 of Elkin, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, August, 28, 2010. She was born March 4, 1931 in Scotland, PA. to Frank and Beatrice Orlea Cooper Cook. Mrs. Bass was a member of Community Fellowship Church. She and her Husband Walter were married July 25, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD. and were the loving parents of eight children. In addition to her parents she joins her beloved late husband Walter D. Bass and two brothers. Mrs. Bass was a beautiful and loving mother who will be greatly missed. Survivors include: Frank Bass and his wife Pat of Lumberton MS. Mary Wood and her husband Kermit of Elkin, Ann Johnson and her husband Brian of Bridge City, LA. David Bass and his wife Louise of Foley, AL., John Bass Sr. of Jonesville and his wife Betty of Lumberton, MS., James Bass of the home, Joyce King and her husband Don of Elkin, and Susan Collins and her husband David of Elkin; seventeen grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Michael Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
