Elkin Mrs. Mabel Catherine Spencer Gaither, age 88, of Victoria Street, Elkin, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Gaither was born April 7, 1918 in Surry County to Marvin Paul & Ohna Eidson Spencer. Mrs. Gaither was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gaither; a sister, Betty Stuart; a brother Richard Spencer. Survivors include: a sister, Ruby Roberson; a nephew, Sam Freeman; great nephews, Alex Freeman and Brighton Freeman all of Elkin. A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens by Dr. Bill Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Elkin First Baptist Church, Elkin, NC 28621.
