William Roby Rose

July 25, 1927 — June 30, 2008

Elkin Mr. William Roby Rose, age 80, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Rose was born July 25, 1927 in Knoxville, Tenn. to Will & Lexie Jolly Rose. Mr. Rose was a member of Charity United Methodist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. Before working at Chatham Manufacturing, he was a brick layer for Frank L. Blum in Winston-Salem. He enjoyed farming and the politics in Wilkes County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and Jessie Rose. Survivors include: his wife, Betty Sparks Rose of the home; three sons, Michael Rose and wife, Sherry of Raleigh, Ricky Rose and wife Greathia, Tony Rose and wife Teresa all of Elkin; six grandchildren, Benjamin Rose and wife Sejeong of Charleston, SC, Garriot Rose and wife Laura of Greensboro, Brandon Rose, Joseph Rose, Samantha Rose all of Elkin, Joey Whitley and wife Melissa of N. Wilkesboro; four great grandchildren, Logan Rose, Miracle Lakin Rose, Josee Whitley and Nolee Whitley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Charity United Methodist Church by Rev. Rex Cranfill and Rev. Amos Lyon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Rose will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Respite Care of Wilkes for all of their love, care and kindness during this time and to all of the family and friends for the visits, food and most importantly their prayers. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
