Elkin Mr. Bobbie Lee Carter, age 73, of W. Walker Road, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Carter was born March 10, 1933 in Surry County to Watson & Stella Carter. Mr. Carter was a member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from Lucia. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece Eloise Carter. Survivors include: his wife, Emma Jean Couch Carter of the home; a godchild, Pat Couch and husband Tim of Elkin; four brothers, Willie Carter and wife Toni of State Road, Billy F. Carter and wife Peggy of Charlotte, Lloyd Carter and wife Billie Jo of Elkin; Blake Carter and wife Gail of State Road; sister Geraldine "Tiny" Carter of Elkin; Nephews, Tim Carter and wife Jane of Richmond, VA, Todd Carter and wife, Lori of Charlotte, Darren Carter and wife Debbie of Elkin, Scott Carter and wife Wendy of State Road, Jamie Nicholson and husband Leslie of Asheville, Keith Nicholson and wife Debbie of Elkin; Chad Carter and wife Bobbi Jo of Gilbert, AZ, Jeremy Carter and wife Mandy of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Don Ball and Rev. Mike Cockerham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Carter will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
