Elkin Mr. Billy James Colbert, age 66, of Union Traphill Road, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Colbert was born August 29, 1938 in Wilkes County to Bruce & Nancy Wilson Colbert. Mr. Colbert was retired from Austin Hardware and was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: two sons, Randy Colbert and wife Janet of Traphill, Jamie Colbert and wife Miranda of Elkin; two daughters, Christy Hanson and husband Scott, Marty Cook and husband James all of State Road; a brother, Raymond Colbert and wife Lorene of Elkin; two sisters, Carol Gentry and husband Clyde of Elkin, Grace Adams and husband Harold of Traphill; three grandchildren, Matt Elliott, Cassidy Cook and Kyley Cook; two step grandchildren, Cooper Hanson and Grace Hanson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Bauguess. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Colbert will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice of Surry County 1326 North Main Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
