Frankie Louern Shaffner

Mr. Frankie Louern Shaffner, age 75, of Thurmond passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Shaffner was born January 24, 1935 in Yadkin County to Ernest Dewey and Maxie Enice Gentry Shaffner. He was retired from Lucia and was a devoted Christian. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest Gladis Shaffner. Survivors include his wife Shirley Carter Shaffner of the home; sons Scott Shaffner of State Road and Marty Shaffner and his wife Sandra of Austin; daughter Jennifer Copeland and her husband Bob of Elkin; step son Chris Hill and wife Amy of Thurmond and step daughter Julie Marshall and her husband Eric of Mount Airy, brother James R. Shaffner and his wife Pat of Jonesville; sisters Erma Shaffner of Jonesville and Ola Mae Baker and her husband Leonard of Lugoff, SC; six grandchildren, Andrew Copeland, Baily Copeland, Sarah Shaffner, Augusta Hill, Ben Marshall and Cara Marshall. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Kevin Killiam and Rev. Bobby Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Central Full Gospel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home
