Thomas Andrew Yarboro

July 10, 1931 — April 23, 2004

Elkin Mr. Thomas Andrew Yarboro, age 72, of Woodland Drive, passed away Friday, April 23, 2004. Mr. Yarboro was born July 10, 1931 in Surry County to Kapp & Gertha Rose Yarboro. Mr. Yarboro was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Tommy was the former owner of Griffin's Gift Shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Osborne Yarboro; a brother, James Yarboro. Survivors include: a daughter, Jill Yarboro Moore and husband Charles of Rocky Mount; three brothers, Windle Yarboro of Elkin, Benny Yarboro of Winston-Salem, Felix Yarboro of Birmingham, AL; four sisters, Emiline Miller, Gemmie Key both of Elkin, Margaret Darnell and Martha Yarboro both of Hickory; two grandchildren, Meagan Moore and Emily Moore. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens by Dr. Bill Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Surry/Yadkin Counties; First Baptist Church of Elkin; Grassy Creek United Methodist Church or to Charity United Methodist Church. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Yarboro family.
