Elkin Mrs. Dovie Coe Hampton, age 89, of CC Camp Road passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hampton was born February 26, 1916 in Surry County to Ira & Lizzie Baker Coe. Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Curch where she served as secretary/treasure of Sunday school and taught children's Sunday school for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Hampton; five brothers, Blueford Coe, LaDae Coe, Coleman Coe, Lawrence Coe, Airolee Coe; a sister, Deleware C. Yarborough. Survivors include: three sons, Benny Hampton and wife Peggy of Troy, Dwayne Hampton and wife Ann; Terry Hampton and wife Annis all of Elkin; a sister, Alpha Stone and husband Caley of Sanford; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith and Rev. Jonah Parker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hampton will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 633 Friendship Baptist Church Road Elkin, NC 28621.
