Traphill Mrs. Velna M. Johnson, age 82, of Longbottom Road, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Johnson was born April 15, 1923 in Wilkes County to Quincy & Pearl Brown McBride. Mr. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Old Roaring River Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Johnson; a son, Louis "Lou" Johnson; brother, Quincy Elmer McBride; a sister, Ruby Warren. Survivors include: four sons, Jim Johnson and wife Ruby, Quincy Johnson and wife Ann, Bobby Johnson and wife Judy, Tommy Johnson and wife Helen all of Traphill; a daughter, Frances "Sis" Mounce and husband Wade of Elkin; three sisters, Rosalee Rash, "Ted" Bowers both of Winston-Salem, Diane White of Germanton; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Pardue. Burial will follow in Old Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
