Thurmond Mr. Richard Gray Lyon, age 38 of Hwy. 21, Thurmond, passed away Monday, September 24, 2007 in Rockingham, NC. Mr. Lyon was born November 5, 1968 in Surry County to Clyde Chester & Martha Ellen Cheek Lyon. Mr. Lyon was employed by Interface Fabrics. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Stewart Lyon. Survivors include: two sons, Bradley Scott Lyon and Brandon Gray Lyon both of Elkin; his mother, Martha Ellen Cheek Lyon of Thurmond; five brothers, Steven Allen Lyon and wife Susan of Thurmond, Clyde C. Lyon, Jr. and wife Pam of Traphill, John Toliver Lyon and wife Terry of Blowing Rock, Benjamin Jacob Lyon and wife Linda of Traphill, Tracy Matthew Lyon and wife Emily of Thurmond; a sister, Evelyn Lyon Campbell of Traphill. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church by Elder John Lyon and Elder George Flippin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lyon will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lou Hampton 1384 CC Camp Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
