Elkin Mrs. Clara Easter Booker, age 77, of Elkin, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Booker was born August 10, 1928 in Cana, VA to Jasper & Ola Bryant Easter. Mrs. Booker was a homemaker and was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Paulette Cruise, a sister Pauline Murrey. Survivors include: Her husband, James Garfield Booker, Jr. of the home; two sons, James Garfield Booker, III and his wife Lori of Maitland, Fla., Michael A. Booker and his wife Glenda of State Road; a daughter, Catherine A. Booker of Elkin; six grandchildren, Christi Booker, Jamie Booker, Julie Booker, Alexandria Booker, Heath Booker and Allie Booker; three step grandchildren, Tonya Wood, Josh Barnette, Shane Barnette; one step great grandchild, Tyler Wood. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Presbyterian Church by Rev. Brian Rummage. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
