Mr. Granville William Burchette, age 72 of Hidden Acers passed away at his residence Saturday May 26, 2007. Mr. Burchette was born June 14, 1934 in Wilkes County to Glen and Maggie Kimmer Burchette. Mr. Burchette was a member of Ronda First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon; he was a Veteran of the United States Army, he was retired from RJ Reynolds and also from the Wilkes County School System. In addition to his parents Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by his son Kevin Hugh Burchette and a brother Paul Burchette. Survivors include; his wife Christine Swaim Burchette of the home; one son Keith Burchette and his wife Kay of Ronda; two daughters, Penny Sparks and her husband Michael of Elkin, and Lisa Nelson and her husband Terry of Hays. Two brothers Jimmy Burchette and his wife Elizabeth of Julian, Hugh Burchette and his wife Elizabeth of Elkin; two sisters Edith Osborne and her husband Dewitt of Elkin and Glenda Carter and her husband Jimmy of East Bend. One brother in-law Kenneth Swaim and his wife Rickie of Yadkinville, and one sister in-law Doris Stokes and her husband Harold of Hamptonville. Three grandchildren Joshua Sparks, Brandon Burchette and Kristan Sparks. Funeral services for Mr. Burchette will be held at 2pm Monday May 28, 2007 at Ronda First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Marty Nixon. Burial will follow in Ronda City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 -8:30 at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
