State Road Mr. Carroll Jennings Gray, age 73, of Murray Road, State Road, passed away, July 1, 2004 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Gray was born January 24, 1931 in Wilkes County to John H. & Bessie Jennings Gray. Mr. Gray who was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather retired after 30+ years of service from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Carroll was a faithful member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church and he was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde G. Gray and Ray Von Gray. Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Norman Gray of the home; a son, Jason Lee Gray and wife Miranda of State Road; a daughter, Angela Luffman and husband Junior of State Road; a brother Gene Gray and wife Sarah of Pfafftown; a sister, Claudean Eller of Hickory; four grandchildren, Adam Gray Luffman, Landon Seth Luffman, twins, Bailey Caleb & Macy Claire Gray; a special sister-in-law, Lois Gray of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Mining Ridge Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Paul Bell, Rev. Roger Jennings and Bro. Frank Wooten. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gray will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mining Ridge Baptist Church Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Gray family.
