Elkin, NC Mr. Charles Parks Mullis, age 70, of Elkin, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 in Dunmore Plantation of Dobson. Mr. Mullis was born August 13, 1938 in Alexander County to Lee and Alva Luvada Kerley Mullis. Mr. Mullis attended Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Mullis. Survivors include: his wife, Betty Cox Mullis of the Home; a son, Charles Phillip Mullis of Huntersville, Texas; two stepdaughters, Tammie Shore and husband Joey Hamptonville, Robin Yarboro and husband Jerry of State Road; three step great grandchildren; Zack Yarboro, Katelin Yarboro and Kelsey Shore. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Steve Mahaffey officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by VFW post 10346. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
