William "Bill" Cook 76 long time St. Maries area resident died June 16, 2011 in St. Maries, ID following an extended illness. He was born October 16, 1934 to William and Irma Hassel Cook in Philadelphia, Penn. As a teenager, he moved to Sierra Madre, CA where his Uncle Ed Cook was living. Following his graduation from High School in 1952, he did landscaping for the Pasadena school district. In January of 1958, he was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea. He married Ellen Fay Miller on August 26, 1962 in Pomona, CA. After his discharge from the Army in December 1963, Bill and Fay made their home in Sierra Madre where he started working at his Uncle Ed's plumbing business. In 1975 Bill moved his family to St. Maries, ID and started his own businessCook's plumbing. Initially focusing on repairs and remodels his business eventually evolved to mostly new home construction. His wife Fay died in 2001. By 2004 he was mostly retired but continued to help people with their plumbing concerns, on a part time basis. He was a member of the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed watching kids playing Upward Basketball and Soccer at the Church. He loved caring for children in the Nazarene Church Nursery. He also enjoyed model railroading. He is survived by his son Brickert Cook of Pocatello, ID, his daughter Julie Widmyer of Coeur d'Alene, ID and 3 grandchildrenJustin, Aaron, and Alicia Widmyer. Also surviving are his brother Richard Cook of CA, in-laws Brickert and Kay Miller, Bert and Pat Miller, Mike and Cindy Schultz, all of St. Maries, Richard and Joanne Alderton of Post Falls, as well as several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Maries Assembly of God Church with Rev. A.J. Anderson, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene officiating.
